Where King Gizzard began: raw, caffeinated, and already restless. Recorded with a basement-tape looseness that the Melbourne band would later leave behind as they chased microtonal scales and concept albums across dozens of releases, 12 Bar Bruise captures a group still running on instinct, leaning hard into surf, blues, and punk before any of those influences had been fully digested. It's the foundation stone for one of the most relentlessly prolific catalogs in modern rock.
12 Bar Bruise is the debut studio album by Australian psychedelic rock band King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard. It was released on 7 September 2012 and sees the band push forward in their journey of DIY garage rock, following the release of the ""Willoughby's Beach"" EP. These records have been sustainably made via injection mold technology and are made from PET plastic (the same plastic as water bottles).
